Description
Nagel piano from the 1920s – completely rebuilt as a masterwork. There are instruments that one sells. And there are instruments that one parts with. This one belongs to the second category. In 1818, my great-great-grandfather Gerhard Ludwig Nagel founded his piano factory in Heilbronn. Five generations later, I – trained at Steinway & Sons in Hamburg – passed my master craftsman examination. And the instrument on which I was examined was, of all things, a piano from the workshop of my own ancestor. The circle was completed at my workbench. In the course of the restoration, this piano has been thoroughly renewed: new pinblock, soundboard preserved in its original state and refinished, bridges original with new bridge pins and cleaned surface, complete new restringing with newly calculated scale, hammer heads custom-made according to my specifications, new damper system, integrated Piano Life Saver System (Dampp-Chaser) for permanent climate stabilization. Width Height Depth 147.5 cm 135 cm 66.7 cm. This means that what stands here is a historical body with a completely new, freshly built voice – an instrument that carries its heritage and is at the same time made for the coming decades. After much consideration, I have decided to part with the instrument. It should be played, not left standing. I hope that it finds its way into good hands in the local area.
