Buy Samick
Used and new Samick uprights and grand pianos
Origin & History
Samick was founded in 1958 by Hyo Ick Lee in South Korea and became the first Korean company to export pianos in 1964. After a 1998 insolvency, the company was acquired in 2002 and turned around within a few years. Samick also owns the German heritage brand Seiler today.
Positioning
Samick sits in the entry to mid-range segment and is one of the largest piano manufacturers in the world. Through its Seiler subsidiary, Samick also offers instruments in the premium segment.
Sound character
Samick pianos are built for a clear, straightforward tone, well suited to beginners and teaching.
What to check
Samick also owns the German brand Seiler, whose entry lines “Eduard Seiler” and “Johannes Seiler” are likewise built by Samick in Indonesia. If you’re after a somewhat higher-quality instrument from the same group, that’s worth a look. General buying criteria are covered in the piano buying guide.
Known series
Known models include the JS series of uprights and the SIG and NSG grand piano lines.
