Used and new Estonia uprights and grand pianos
Origin & History
Estonia’s piano-building tradition goes back to 1779, and today’s factory traces to the Astron AG, founded in 1922, which has traded as Estonia since 1950. Privatized after Estonian independence in 1991, the company remains independent to this day.
Positioning
Estonia is considered an insider tip in the upper mid-range to premium segment, offering good value against Western European premium brands. The brand builds almost exclusively grand pianos.
Sound character
Estonia grands are known for a powerful, warm tone with unusually mature bass projection for their price class.
What to check
Soviet-era instruments from before 1991 differ noticeably in quality from modern production after the restructuring. Check the build year via the serial number before committing to an older instrument. General buying criteria are covered in the piano buying guide.
Known series
Known grand models are the 168, 190, 225 and 273.
