Buy W. Hoffmann

Used and new W. Hoffmann uprights and grand pianos

Origin & History

W. Hoffmann was founded in 1893 and has belonged to the Bechstein group since the early 1990s. Instruments are now built in Hradec Králové in the Czech Republic.

Positioning

Within the Bechstein group, W. Hoffmann forms the mid-range, above Zimmermann and below the core C. Bechstein brand. It positions itself as a European alternative to Asian mass production, built to German quality standards in the Czech Republic.

Sound character

W. Hoffmann aims for a balanced, clear tone in the German tradition across all three lines, with the higher Tradition and Professional models offering more tonal depth than the entry-level Vision line.

What to check

W. Hoffmann, Zimmermann and C. Bechstein belong to the same group but represent three different price tiers. Comparing the two sister brands can help you find the right price bracket. More on buying used in the piano buying guide.

Known series

The three lines Vision (entry), Tradition (mid-range) and Professional (upper mid-range) cover different needs.
