Description

I am offering for sale a valuable, rare instrument from the renowned Würzburg pianoforte factory Müller-Schiedmayer. The appraisal by master piano maker Michael Hadewig prior to the restoration states (18.02.2010): "The choice of materials and the craftsmanship of the instrument are of such high quality that the preservation or appropriate repair would be recommended. On the basis of specialist literature, I was able to determine that the Müller-Schiedmayer company had been making instruments in Würzburg since 1874. Their instrument was manufactured in 1908. Unfortunately, due to the turmoil of war, the manufacture of instruments ended in 1945, when the workshops were completely burnt out. The instruments were characterized by good workmanship and a balanced, beautiful sound, which you will hardly find in today's new instruments." The following work was carried out during the subsequent restoration (2010) Acoustic system: soundpost renewed, soundboard shimmed, strings renewed. Mechanics: Hammerheads, springs and damping renewed. Keyboard: Felt replaced and polished. Case: New shellac polish. The restoration work was documented (see photo) The instrument has not been played for some time, needs tuning, but holds its tuning well. Marketing license for ivory keyboard for the European Union is available (NLWKN from 25.03.2026) Instrument with full sound and excellent craftsmanship! The piano can be viewed and played by appointment.
